Emails appearing to come from myself

I have started to receive emails which appear to come from my own email address. I haven't opened any, just deleted them. From the title they seem to be mainly about dating. How is this happening, how can anyone use my email address like this? I don't want the hassle of changing my address. Thank.

This happened to me Boto, via my husband's address, 3 months after he died. These stupid one-liners were being sent en masse to everyone in his address book, including me. It was very upsetting.

I simply changed his password and they stopped. I should close it down but haven't had the heart to do it yet.
