Have any of you ever tried it or know anyone else that has?

I've always been dead against paying for dating services, I think they pray on peoples emotions but I've been bullied into it. Besides, desperate times call for desperate measures.

So far I seem to be attracting middle aged men. Which would be fine, if I wasn't still in my 20's (just).

There are some truly weird people out there.

It can't all be bad, can it?

Can you not specify the age range of the people you'd like to meet? Though, having said that, there's many a fine tune played on an old fiddle.
loads of the girls here at work do it, some attract all the weirdos and others seem to get on ok, one girl met someone 2 years ago and they are getting married next year

i went out on two dates both disasters and never again
Coffee , toast to hand (waits for the thread to be infested by middle aged men)

Yes you can.

And after a while I even added a little note at the end of my profile saying very politely that men over a certain age need not apply. They obviously don't read it.
No. I know a few people from here that have met their partners from on-line dating.

You're pretty savvy, Evian, go with your gut instinct, if they don't feel right then bin them.

Not everyone has access to an active social life, so internet dating is the perfect solution, if used correctly. Good luck x

Is there any other sort on this site Mick?

Care to share Fluff?
I haven't tried it personally, but a couple of my (male) mates are on my single friend.com

There must be a fair sprinkling of old men, too
You don't have to be desperate to go online dating. I found it suited me at a time when all my friends were either miles away or coupled up. It was a good way of meeting people. Having said that, I didn't half meet some nutjobs. These would be my tips:-

1. Pay for a decent site
2. How you write your profile will determine who you attract. If you write the normal "I am 25 years old, blonde and wltm a caring man for good times and possibly more. Likes, meals in, walks on the beach Dislikes cruelty to animals and children", you will attract the hard of thinking. You need something slightly catchier that stands out.
3. Don't put a pic on there with cleavage or a pout - you will then only attract a certain type of man.
4. Never ever give out too many personal details until you've met someone in a safe public place a few times.

I met Mr BM online. ALthough today I might kill him, so it could be bad. ;)
Some people claimed they have success with dating online. But, I think online dating is scary business.
well one was a policeman and of the sort that only became one for the power trip spent the entire date talking about himself and how amazing he was and i can't remember the second, i just know there was so that must of been a riveting evening

Sort of why I'm using it Ummmm, I never go anywhere to meet anybody. Sob.

Speed dating..... that's scary.
Never used one myself but my sister has. I was always very sceptical but as she said, the sites where you pay tend to filter out the weirdos or those just looking for a sh*g.
She met a guy who is probably the nicest I've ever met(she has had 3 or 4 serious relationships prior) and we all get on great with him. I think he deserves a medal myself, he is so laid back and often tempers my sister, who can sometimes be what he calls 'spikey'.
They've been together for 6 years now so maybe I need to get myself registered with a site.....!
There's young Benny but he rarely posts...........you will have to make do with me and Triggs.

I've never tried it, mainly because I don't think the missus would let me.

Ta BM, I think I can check the boxes from your tips.

Fluff, I went on a date with a policeman years ago and he was exactly the same. He didn't even show up in his uniform to make up for being a tragic bore.
you liar, you like "certain" types of sites
lol, thats at MT

the police guy was a bore he had a flashy car and went on and on about how much money he made

Oh yeah, Benny..... might be a tad too much on the youthful side for me. I'd scare the crap out of him.
I know a couple who met online and married - happily, but of course, all experiences are individual.

I would certainly try it if i was in your position - I think you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find a prince!
