What Would You Do?

I sold a second item on ebay at 10to3 this afternoon. It is now nearly ten past 8 and I have heard diddly from the person that has bought my item. I have messaged them, as if they were to pay me via PayPal I could and would have it in the post tomorrow. How long would you wait to give it up for second chance? I'm getting a little fed up.

I only ask as the first item I sold yesterday was paid for within 5 mins of purchase.

What about people that use that 'thingy' that does the bidding for them because they won't be about for the end of the auction?

Person may be in work or on holiday and used an automatic bidding tool like EZ Sniper.
Give them 48 hours, then email again.

Queenie you'll have to give them a few days, don't forget that they may be out for the day or something like that. Now stop being so inpatient lol.
Some people do pay almost immediately and some don't.

They may have gone out for the day. I usually wait 3 days.

I would give it till tomorrow 6pm, then email them, they may be working or put a bid in before they went away, (may be for the weekend as it is holiday season) what did your ebay listing state, immediate payment, 7 days payment, local pick up, I state what and when payment should be completed, it is a hot weekend and the end of the month, maybe there wages do not go into there account till tomorrow,

I believe the buyer was bidding right up until the end. I could wait a few more days but then it becomes harder for me to get to the post office. I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

Think you have to give them longer than just over 5 hours, patience is a virtue!

It works the other way too, sometimes I have paid immediately - within one minute of winning the bid for an item I really wanted, only for the seller to wait 5+ days before sending it out. Very frustrating.

QoM he/she may not have been bidding personally. If I see something I like but am going out, then I will put in my top price and go out. Ebay will make me the winning bidder by making a bid of the starting price or a quid more than the current high bid and will only bid more if I am outbid. It might look like I am bidding but in fact I will know nothing about what is happening until I check later on. If I get home late, I may not pay till next day.

That's not good TW. I have the first item sold last night sitting right next to me waiting to be taken to the post office tomorrow. I'm feeling impatient because I know that tomorrow I am not doing anything and I am able to get to the post office no problem.

Good grief, QOM - I send an invoice as soon as the item's sold, but I'll give them at least three days to cough up. I then go through a process before I'll report it as unpaid after 7 days - I certainly wouldn't consider offering a second chance until I've done all that and had eBay's approval to re-offer. 5 hours is no time at all, it's been a lovely day, they might be out for the day!

q of m, I used to be like that when I first started selling on eBay. I would have it all parcelled up and ready to go and would sit staring at the computer in the last few minutes, watching the bids, (does this sound like you?) couldn't wait till it sold, and wanted them to pay immediately so I could get up to the post office within minutes to get it out of my house and into theirs.

Well, it doesn't always happen like that. Don't worry, they will pay and it shouldn't be too long. Most of all, have fun.

I wouldn't ever wrap the parcel until I'd got paid - how do you put the packing slip in, if you've already wrapped it?

sorry but there is no reason to expect immediate payment, people do not sit at their computers all day , you should give them a few days to pay, then worry about it, only ebay traders can demand immediate payment in their T & C.

Boxy, when I was new to eBay, I didn't even realise a packing slip was available to be printed off. All part of the learning process. My first ever sale was paid by postal order.

They have paid and i'm in the process of parcelling it up. Or I would if I could go and get it without falling over a cat.

I sadly have no access to a printer so I do my own packing slip which nobody has had an issue with

Must be a difference between the U.S. system and yours in the U.K. Here, when you set up your preferences, you note when you want the system to begin an unpaid item action... It's automatic, but the shortest time limit for the buyer to respond you can select is 7 days. Never had a problem with the system taking care of an unpaid item though. It refunds the selling fee as well...
