That Shook Me Up.......
19 Answers
A runner just ran into the road in front of me without looking.
I told her she was a stupid woman and pointed out that running with an iPod on was not recommended.
She then accused me of speeding - so she neither heard nor saw me but concluded it was my fault for speeding!!!
I hope my heart rate will soon return to normal!

I was driving round a blind corner in a one way street (yes, going the right way) when a berk on a bike came flying round going the wrong way and nearly parked himself on the front of my car. Luckily I was crawling along as I had just pulled out of a parking space.
I had to stop the car I was shaking so much - a mixture of fear and fury. He kept going, still don't think he saw me or heard me thanks to his bloody iPod.

Running or cycling when you can't hear what's going on around you is so stupid.

They are much better than the ordinary single ear things that you find in the shops, and it means you can still hear what's going on around you.
I don't know why more running and bike shops don't sell these.

I was driving the ther day when this woman who was clearly txting on a mobile phone just stepped straight off the pavement and started to cross the road, at no time looking up. I dont know if she even realised she was crossing a road. Luckily I had my wits about me. I beeped the horn and she really jumped - she hadnt seen my car at all!
It really is always the driver's fault too. I had a cyclist coming out of a drive and smacked into the near side rear door of my car. I was lucky in that there was a police car behind me and he said there was no way i could have avoided him. However, the cyclist had hurt his shoulder and the policeman apologised to me and said "it is always the driver's fault if the cyclist is injured. I got a caution and a Driver Awareness course.
The few years ago I was approaching a roundabout and some arse hole in a hi-vis coat suddenly jumped out in front of me and stopped me so a couple of cyclists on a road race could shoot through with out interuption even though I had right of way. In those days I wasn't as mild mannered as I am now so I got out of the car and had words with the guy. Things were getting a bit heated when a police car pulled up and calmed things down a bit then promptly gave the guy in the hi-vis coat a ticket and warning that it didn't matter if it was a race or not unless it had been licenced and approved the participents were still subject to the normal rules of the road and could not demand right of way unless it was actually due to them. Apparently there'd been loads of complaints and the copper had been sent to sort it out.
