Ok To Have One Small Glass Of Wine?

I'm going on a date tonight. It's only the second time we've met and I'm beyond nervous. We are going out for something to eat which is even more nerve wracking for me - I have to worry about not having to spill food down my top and everything!

Anyway my question is, given that I'm driving, is it ok for me to have one small glass of wine on arrival? Although it won't put me over the limit, will my date think that I'm out of order having one drink and driving??

My personal choice is zero when I'm driving. a glass of wine is 1 and 1/2 units I believe

Probably be ok ...but not something I'd do....NEVER drink and drive.....zero tolerance is the best way to be safe imho....

normally I'd say yes; but if you're already a mass of nerves, maybe not so wise? Stick to mineral water and if asked say you're on antibiotics.

Mojo, yea normally I wouldn't even consider having a drink when I've got the car. It's just because I'm so nervous! I'm 43, been out of the dating game for AGES, and am soo nervous! Wouldn't consider it otherwise...that's why I came on to gauge opinion.

It's irrelevant what your date thinks- you need to look after yourself. I'd say don't risk it. If you're not at ease with each other sober on a second date, it won't work, anyway. Just enjoy:-)

Out of order ? Depends on the individual. But surely your main question is whether you want one. If you do and it causes such disapproval and nonacceptance then maybe that would not be someone you are comfortable with, long term ?

Hi folks, just to report all went well - and I must admit the glass of wine was a godsend. When I arrived I felt really, really nervous. I was feeling shaky, sweaty and bit sick. I thought having the wine was the lesser of the two evils and it did help.

We ate some food, had a chat and parted with a kiss on the cheek. Perfect.
