Non Delivery Of Post, Whats The Solution?
9 Answers
As a lot of abers know i am not living in the uk, but abroad in madrid. I still have a flat in the west midlands, which is being rented out. My problem is i haven´t received any post for about a year now, and i am at my wits end what to do. I´ve emailed Royal Mail, to no avail, have been given a useless telephone number to call which is always on voicemail. I have just emailed citizens advice bureau, and someone who represents the ombudsman.
its frustrating because i regularly contact my uk address to ask about post to be told theres nothing!! I know most of the stuff i get is junk, but recently one or two things have been important.
any advice would be appreciated

Start by being able to []prove[i] that mail is going missing. Post a few items from Madrid and get friends in various parts of the UK to post some test mail too. Ask them to ensure that they get 'proof of posting' (but without using any 'signed for' service), and to send such proofs to your Madrid address.
Then you'll be in a much better position to challenge Royal Mail.

sorry for the delay, anyway thanx everyone for your comments. Sadly i only have 1 family member living here in Madrid, and they´ve always had their mail redirected to a p.o.box, because they also had similar problems a few years ago. I will look at chris´s idea, but proof of posting might be difficult without having it signed for.
plus this family member wasn´t at all trustworthy, informing me of post they received for me which they had somewhere in their house for around 6 weeks!!! if not longer!!

Any post office provides proof of posting free of charge. Indeed, it's standard practice these days when you hand something over the counter to be posted. The sender is given a receipt showing the date and time that the letter or package was received and the address (in postcode form, e.g. 17a IP22 4LX) that it was sent to.
