Took OH to station in Gloucester and off he went to Congleton, having to change trains three times. Off he went. I had a phone call from him about 2.30. He had broken down only driven 5 miles. Water pouring everywhere. He had a look at it, couldn't sort it. Rang AA can't come until 4.00. When he comes he says water pump has gone, and engine will have to be taken out and it will cost a lot more than he paid for it. He decided to get it towed back to sellers address. When he got there he found he was out. So what did he do next. He wrote him a note saying I don't want it now, send me a cheque. He also put the keys and log book through his letter box. He also put the receipt for the cash he had paid him earlier on. My mind boggles, he is not safe to be let out. He had also put £40 of petrol in the car.
The AA man gave him a lift to the station, he was asking about the car on the journey, when OH said he had bought it on eBay. The man said if he had known he would have had to charge him £3 per mile as they do not touch eBay.
He got the trains home, all three of them, I've just picked him up from Gloucester.
I can't see him getting his money back, he has no receipt, has no idea what the chappies name is left all documents in the car.
I think I need to put him on a long lead and never let him out again on his own!

Just realised this is another blasted water disaster!
Oh Caran what a fiasco, take him a while to live this down.
People are never satisfied, he got on all the right trains didn't he? ;o)
Question Author
It cost him nearly double coming home as he had to buy the tickets at the station instead of on line in advance. But yes I will give him credit for actually getting on the correct trains.
Be gentle with him Caran. He'll be in need of quite a bit of TLC.
I hope you've had him chipped Caran !
chipped ? he's in the garage for a week !

That sounds a good idea minty!
To the important instruction in life:

"Don't drink and drive"

should be added the instruction

"Don't drink and Ebay"

Correct Hopkirk. I asked him have you learnt your lesson? He reckons so, only look not touch in future,
Caran....isn't it lovely not to live a dull life.....when you're sitting on your cloud with the harp.....you'll smile at all of this...☺
What on Earth has the seller's situation got to do with whether the AA customer is covered ? AA's been paid the annual fee, they come out and help when needed.
Question Author
Old Geezer, he reckoned if a vehicle has been bought from eBay they can't touch unless a fee of £3 per mile is paid. It doesn't make sense to me either. A broken down vehicle if it has breakdown cover should be covered whether or not it's from eBay.
What sort of feedback has he left on eBay for the seller?
He can trace the seller via ebay, raise a dispute, use ebay & AA for any Court evidence. Keep him on ebay but direct him to the diamond necklaces.

Question Author
He hasn't left feedback yet, he has messages him on eBay, waiting for response. Will try to phone his mobile again tomorrow. If no success will contact eBay for advice on what he can do.
