Best Way To Word Something On A C.v

I am writing a C.V for my mum who wouldn't mind getting back into work. She stopped working when she was pregnant with my brother as my dad always earned more than enough for her to stay at home. I basically grew up in a huge house with a equally huge garden, however my mum and dad decided to take a sort of "good life" approach to their life. A good portion of the garden was converted for growing fruit and veg (complete with polytunnel) and for chickens. For the past twenty years my mum has tirelessly worked in the house and garden (in all weathers) growing all the plants they need and making sure nothing goes to waste making use of everything in jams, sauces, chutneys etc. They chop their own fire wood as well. My mum never sits down as there is always something to be done. Is there a good way to sum this up without sounding pretentious?

What I have so far is "A hardworking and contentious individual currently looking to resume employment after a long break raising a family and ...." However I'll have a crack at this anyway:
"For the past twenty years I have been a home-maker who has been proactive in seeking out, and adopting, self-sufficiency methods. For example, I helped to convert our large garden into a smallholding which now provides most of the food for our home, which I then prepare or preserve.
This experience has helped me to develop self-confidence in tackling new and challenging tasks, together with planning and time-management skills and the ability to overcome problems".
