Would they have received the same attention if they had got married in 2017 rather than 1984?

Perhaps one of the upsides of political correctness is that these kinds of attacks are now frowned upon (at least, from most of us).

You're both right. I've noticed myself how many adverts feature mixed race couples.

Until folk realise mixed race families are normal we will forever be on an uphill climb.

Our long term Guest Tashi is Indian, she has been a friend of my Wifes for years and a friend to me for 2 - 3 years. We often go out for a drink locally without Mrs B, only because she doesn't want to go out sometimes.
The times I have been referred to as a 'Pa-ki Lover' or similar is frequent, the last incident, about 3 months ago leading to a court Case due shortly.
We just go out for a drink, the number of idiots that stand up to be counted is amazing.

Through mixed marriages/relationships and adoption my family presents quite a mixed bunch but I can honestly say we've never encountered a problem anywhere.....x

I think we Mr.Sam and I are lucky. We have been in our mixed race marriage for 41 years and only once met bigotry ( friend of my mother’s). Our kids haven’t either, thank goodness.

I too, would like to think that that kind of bigotry had died out, but I am not so naive to thank that it has.

I can't go into details but it was quite a serious assault, luckily with my background I was able to sort it.

Not only is every couple mixed race but their friends are apparently at least one of each oriental, Asian, ginger, bearded and has an obvious disability and that's okay because what they say in the advert seldom relates to reality either. :-)

There aren't many black folk around in Scotland apart from, maybe, in the big cities but I don't know that they get as much of a hard time here as they seem to south of the border.
Too busy arguing about football teams maybe? Or we're just more mature and accepting of difference.

The bigots are not always white, It can come from the 'otherside' as well, especially from Asian men, if one of their women happens to be coupled with a white man.

Unfortunately I have close friends who aren't happy about mixed marriage; but I'm not the opinion police. They tolerate my opinions I, their's.

The number of black fathers who leave the matrimonial home is very well known, it has even been used as an excuse for why their off-springs go off the rails, so I imagine there are quite a few white fathers who would not be too happy to see a black man marring their daughter.
