How do you think it would pan out if ABers who regularly clash on here were to meet for a friendly coffee?
The spat between naomi and andy hughes (for example) on the ''Should He Come Wearing Sackcloth And Ashes?'' thread for instance makes interesting reading but might it be different in real life?
Ive 'clashed' with people on here and there are those that clash with me. Others on this site such as AOG seem to get a lot of stick and others as well.
Differences of opinion on an anonymous website does not equate to real life. Ive mentioned before that one of my closest friends is a retired pastor and our opinions on religion are poles apart. On a website such as this we might vehemently disagree and be disparaging of each other but in real life its different.

So, how do you think it would work out having a pleasant afternoon sharing a coffee pot with ABers that you may not like very much in this virtual reality?

For some reason. I can't picture Naomi24 using this line from Casablanca: "( Andy), I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." :)
I would like to think it would pan out very well as people would be more polite in real life on a first meeting. No guarantee that they wouldn't return to form back online, or even worse come on here afterwards and say how much they dislike so and so :-)
I can honestly say that I would be no different in person than I am on here.

My views would remain the same, as would the language and form I use to express them.
I'd love to sit on a different table from this get together and see how people interact. I'd imagine that Naomi and Andy would sit at opposite ends of the table, but be very polite to each other when introduced.

There's no one I dislike on here. I'd sit back and enjoy the fun.

Depends I suppose. Could just be a friendly coffee but
if 'whoever' wanted to have an argument then I would do my best to annoy them whilst laughing @ them if they did get annoyed.

I don't suffer fools gladly online or in real life, that aside, I'm a sociable person who gets on with most people with no problems.
On the couple of occasions I've met up with a group of folks from some forum it's tended to be quite boring. Little in common with others in the group, polite conversation, not upset to finally be away. Doubt I'd go to such a gathering again.

Don't think that any of us would say any different. Hands up all those ABers who would say that they are different in the real world!

Again, hands up any ABers whose views would be different in the real world!

The point is that people are so much more than the views that they express, whether on a website or in real life. Its so easy on a website to formulate views of people (that you don't even know) based on a few text exchanges.

Ive offered to meet you Andy on a few occasions...as a fellow Stokie...(and you've turned them down) because I actually find things in common with you. But as humans it seems that we let differences divide us more than we let commonalities unite us.
I'm sure we'd all looooove to watch a real-life Naomi-Andy meeting...

No, Jim....really....No we wouldn't....x

Jim, a few weeks ago Jordy insinuated that a meeting between myself and Tilly was dangerous (because I was an ex con, therefore dangerous) It turned out to be an enjoyable experience, sharing a pot of tea and a chat etc.
Would like to think that would be the same with naomi and andy.
(or indeed with andy and myself as we both live in the same city)
Jordy was worried about Tilly meeting you, Nailit???

Crikey....I'd be more worried about meeting Tilly with her red pen!.. ;-)
Maybe I would understand PP if I saw his lips moving :)
I've met two AB'ers so far (but both "only" from the crossword section). Been waiting like five years for a third... eg, Gnessie?

Speaking of... email already?!

That was the one Baldric thanks :-)
Gness, Tillys red pen was never far away from my mind...

Doubt it...
I am getting better and out of self inflicted Purdah, Jim......back to my email tomorrow......promise...x
I gave up trying months ago :P
Months? Poppycock! Though at my age and being Irish I have no sense of time......or place for that matter..... ;-)
