Am I being stupid or ignorant in saying,
There’s no reason to have a television nowadays.with I pads an computers
Every thing you want is at your fingertips,
The days of having to watch what others want is gone,
And for an old fart like me it’s magic being able to watch programmes of old movies,
In saying that has anyone heard of movie123 I think it was i stumbled across it and was able to watch RIO Bravo, and MERRILLS MAURADERS,
John Wayne in Rio Bravo, and quess who in merrills mauraders.?

Sorry this should not be in news
Jeff Chandler?
I have moved this thread into the category "ChatterBank".
Seems obvious but I'd rather be watching a 53 inch screen with decent sound than an ipad or laptop!

Thanks ab spare ed must be the heat 86%,
I am melting.
Love watching my big tv with my family, it is a social event.
We still enjoy looking forward to scheduled programmes and making time to watch them together. Doc Martin is one such programme.

I do watch Netflix and Amazon Prime and I do sometimes cast programmes from my phone to my tv but overall I enjoy television. I still stumble across some fab programmes when there is 'nothing' to watch for half an hour that I would otherwise have missed.

I don't watch any film, programme or any kind of video on my computer, iPad or phone. I just don't like it.
Hc, I totally agree, to sit watching an iPad/phone in the company of others is somewhat ignorant I feel
I don't even like watching that way when I'm on my own, Bobbi.
Can't imagine a family huddling round a laptop Jordy.
I can honestly say I have never watched a tv programme on anything but the tv
Laptops and ipads can be connected to other larger screens such as monitors or TVs, i get what Jordy is saying. That's why most people now stream services from Netflix or now TV instead of paying for sky or other box services.
I think it's fine to be watching a film on the Ipad round the pool or beach whilst your OH reads a book. It's the company you want not the constant attention
I wouldn’t take an iPad to the pool either Spath, in fact I rarely watch anything bar the news if we are away
Each to their own ay?

I personally wouldn't read a book by the pool. I'd rather sleep or go and do an activity.
Jordy is saying you don't need a tv at all, spath. I'd rather read a good book (on my Kobo!) when I'm lazing round the pool, or play Scrabble on my phone :)
Well he's kind of right you don't? You could use a laptop and a nice monitor or just use the laptop.
We do make use of modern technology in our house, though. Some of us have difficulty following a complicated storyline when the series stretches out with one episode a week for several weeks. We tend to record those series and watch them all over a few days - Peaky Blinders, Killing Eve, that sort of thing.
I think it wonderful that our Virgin box can record 6 channels at once and access the recordings on the second box. It's magic :)

You could, Spath, but I wouldn't. I have a very large high def monitor for my computer but still don't like watching tv on it.
The wonderful thing about all this is, we have choice.
Indeed we do, Mamya. And I choose my big tv and comfy sofa.
Me too.
