When the first take aways came out they were roughly half the price of a meal in a restuarant. Now today you can go out for a meal cheaper than a take away
Perhaps the problem is too many people earn so much money and it does matter anymore

Sometimes a takeaway is just so much more convenient, you don't have to think what to wear or where to park or who's driving or who else to invite like when you go out for a meal, plus it's so much less time consuming when all you want to do is just eat.
Sending out for a curry (for example) means a lovely meal in the comfort of home, made by someone else and with little washing up...added to that is that you can dine in your pyjamas in the comfiest chair and be happy that you have chosen what you like to eat from a choice of dishes and made no real effort in its making....The latter is much better than making do with what is in your cupboards - well it is in our house!!
I'm jelous because I can't eat pizza .. We have just had a curry to die for .. 6 spices, 1 chicken breast, 1 onion,
1 tin of tomatoes, 1 pepper and a splash of yoghurt .. and thirty minutes from start to finish !
Quicker than a takeaway .. so simple and fresh.
Anyone can do it and everyone should try it just once .. you will be very surprised !

It's worth remembering that 90% of independent food service businesses go bust within the first two years, so takeaway owners can't all be making a fortune from what Gollob sees as high prices.
Further, staff working in takeaway establishments (and delivering food for them) are nearly always minimum wage employees and the National Minimum Wage has been rising faster than inflation for many years, forcing takeaway establishments to keep raising their prices.
Rather than comparing takeaway prices with those of restaurants, I've always compared them in my mind with the prices of similar food sold as chilled ready meals in supermarkets. (Indeed, several supermarkets now sell a range of products marketed as 'takeaway', specifically designed to emulate what's on offer from Indian and Chinese takeaways). Based upon that, I've always regarded takeaways as expensive and something which I might typically buy perhaps only three or four times in a year.
