Help Me Put A Name To This Mental Health Challenge?
7 Answers
I’m writing this post to see if anyone can help me put a name to this mental health challenge that I’m seeing in two people.
It is characterised by the following:
Lack of self-awareness and empathy
Grandiose opinions of self and their achievements. A need to have a feeling of status when nothing points towards this. Wanting others to know it.
Always talking, talking, talking.
OCD towards cleanliness
Judgement towards others
Lying, deception and manipulation
Covering up their tracks.
A desire to talk about themselves frequently and to dominate a conversation.
Struggles to maintain long term employment. Many, many dramas in the workplace.
Inability to maintain long-term romantic relationships
Violent outbursts and then little remorse or recognition of the incidence after it’s passed
An unhealthy relationship with alcohol (but one that’s quite high functioning).
A real sense of vulnerability and shame deep down that isn’t acknowledged.
A sense of being different but not being able to sense why
A neediness and co-dependency in romantic relationships
Smothering of some immediate family members that (when combined with the above) results in pushing people away
A tendancy to play the victim card
Seeking financial dependency to some degree from elderly parents (despite being in their 40s/60s)
Plenty of interests. No real hobbies.
Inability to see and issue and therefore get support
These are long term traits that have followed these people through life. I totally suspected Narcissistic Personality Disorder but some things made me question this. Unless it’s NPD with something else?
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

I suppose that there might also be an element of schizoid personality disorder in there with me but, either way, I'm perfectly happy with the way that I am.
