How Can I Be Comfortable With Being Alone For The Rest Of My Life?
2 Answers
I am a US student, so this may or may not be the right place to ask this. I have recently graduated high school and will begin college in the fall. My GPA was a 3.8 weighted, and after having a talk with my father, I realized that this was a bad GPA for an Indian kid like me, since all other Indians have a 4.2 and 4.3 GPA. I felt that I worked my hardest, even though some classes like Honors Chemistry and AP Physics C: Mechanics were difficult for me (I got C's in those). But apparently it wasn't enough for my dad. And I know my dad loves me and wants to see me succeed. One thing I've realized that during high school was that I had also crushed on girls and gotten into drama fights with other kids from school. My dad has told me that I struggled academically in high school because I got distracted by all of these other things. To be fair, it was after the pandemic happened that I fell behind on school work, as I got into those drama scuffles mentioned earlier. But for the crushing on girls part, I still felt that I was working hard. Regardless, one thing I've learned is that my GPA is bad, and I plan on working myself to the bone during college. In order to focus on my major and later on, my career, I'm never going to get emotionally closer to anybody than a casual friendship, and I will never get close to a girl and date/marry her. I am going to be cold and distant from everybody, while still maintaining good relations at the same time. I know I can do this, but at the same time, I can't help but feel empty. How do I go about accomplishing succeeding in my career while cutting out the distractions and social life, and not go crazy at the same time?

If you do so, please make it of your choosing, and not your fathers. You don't have to go looking for a long term relationship, but if it happens and she is the one that you can see yourself spending the rest of your life with, don't lose that. Let it happen naturally.
