So, my fridge has finally packed up and I have to decide whether or not to try and get it repaired or buy a new one and I need help deciding please.
If I were to call out the repair man, it's £25 call out, and £45 labour and any parts would be on top of that.
Or, I can buy a new one for £201 96.
It has to be this particular one as it matches the freezer next to it.
For it to be cheaper to have it repaired, the part would have to be less than £131.96, or it might not need a part so I'm very undecided.
Any suggestions please?

get a new one, the repair etc will cost just as much.
Go for second hand on eBay

TTT as soon as I saw you had answered, I knew you would say that :-)
I'm hoping someone who knows about these things will ask me what the problem is with the fridge and give me an idea of what it might need.
Do you know why it has packed up?
if you know a good man who can fix it for around a hundred quid i'd go for that
Have you had it for long? If it's very old I would get a new one

It's a frost free fridge but was building up a lot of ice inside, so I unplugged it to get rid of the ice, but when I plugged it back in, the light comes on but the fridge isn't getting cold.
However, after only being plugged in for a short time, the motor was red hot, so I've unplugged it again.
My f/f packed up - It was getting on a bit so I thought I would change it for a better one rather than have the hassle of a repair which may or not work & perhaps only fix it for limited time. my 2 cents.

Elliemay, no, I've only had it for about 5 years.
The best value for money is to buy a new one and benefit from higher ratio of years of use per pound spent.

Environmental you might argue it’s good to repair but it depends on the age of the fridge and what’s wrong with it. New ones are more efficient and use less energy.

If you are undecided why not spend the £25 to find out.

It looks brand new. Not a scratch or a dent on it.
If you need a new motor I think you would be better buying a new one. Why not phone a refrigeration engineer, explain what happened and ask for a quote.
get a new one - yeah - no second hand on Ebay - too big an item to send back if it was wonky. £201.96 is very reasonable.

Yesterday My handyman fitted a new stair bannister - he bought it, it's the real macoy as in nice looking and very heavy wood - painted it 3 coats then fitted it, screwed a few things in the house - cut something in half. He was only looking £110. I gave him £200. So there ya go the price of new fridge.

Maydup are you saying I should just get someone out to look at it?
Would they be able to tell me how much it would cost to repair and I would only need to pay £25?
I'll speak for Maydup - no she wants you to pay the £25 call out man

I knew you lovely Abers would come up with ideas I hadn't thought of.
At the moment I'm waiting on my plumber (very expensive) - I say with extreme trepidation as I am finding a tear drop coming out of my radiator valve in the bathroom. And if I look at my kitchen ceiling there are two slight "marks". No not again another 2016 flood where kitchen ceiling came all down over a very slow leak in the same radiator. He was to call at 11 but I always him grace as he is in the middle of a job. Wish me well -
The fact that you call out an engineer and pay the call-out fee does not oblige you to hire his services.Maydup's advice is the way to go.
Buy a new one. The newest ones will use less electricity too. You might get it fixed and it conks out again in a few weeks, and you will always be checking that it's still working.
I guarantee that by the Time you have finished messing about you will have spent more than the cost of a new one and still have an old fridge even if it turns out that it is economically fixable.
