i posted a question yesterday on her about my hair

my hair is streaked blonde and is to blonde for me so i was thinking about putting a light brown on it so that some blonde would still show through as i dont want to go completley brown

some people answered my question and said i had to put red in it before i went brown is this correct i just need some more points of view thanks

Hi, are you doing the colouring yourself? If so putting red in it does help however if you buy a lowlighting kit, this will have the correct blend of colours to ensure that the colour comes out correctly. Putting the red in first is basically putting the hairs natural pigment back in. I would strongly suggest having this done at a hairdressers tho lol

You should definately use a redish colour before you use brown, my friend put brown straight onto her blonde hair a few years ago & her hair actually went slightly green & she had to put tomato ketchup on it to make the green go away!!

I used to have a lot of blonde in my hair too, my hairdresser put a redish colour on first when i wanted to go darker & a week later i could put brown on top of it.

i have had this done a couple of times at different hairdressers when growing out my blonde. I have never had red put in underneath and the colour lasted fine.

I would agree with the above posts and go to a hairdresser though as it could go seriously wrong!

hey, i have my hair highlighted in the summer and dyed brown in the winter and my hairdresser doesn't put a red on my hair before dying it brown apart from when my hair was dyed completely blonde (i did it at home). he stripped the blonde and then used a brown dye to stop it going green.xx
