Weird Dreams
8 Answers
Lately I have been having dreams in a recurring theme, wondered whether any of you guys had a clue what they could mean?
Its all a bit depressing but for a while I had had several dreams where I murdered other people, they were always strangers. And I would feel immensly guilty in my dream after I killed them. Then I had a dream where I killed loads of people by planting a bomb in a block of flats, i had the same dream again a few nights later. Now, instead of me being the killer my dreams are focused on explosions.
Last night I dreamt that I knew a bomb had been planted in a hotel and was about to go off. But, rather than warn the people in that hotel, I ran to the next one where people were dining outside and told them all to get under the tables to protect them from the near by explosion. Then I went back to the blown up hotel and men were scraping burnt bodies off the floor and I was walking over the patches of blood left behind in bare feet.
Really vile dreams and the make me feel horrible. Any idea what is causing them and how I can get them to stop??!

my mum says when you dream about things like that it means you're stressed but i don't know. it'd be interesting to hear if anyone knows about recurring themes in dreams!

Hi Presario - I'm no expert but dreams are a way of releasing your inner tensions. The reason I asked if you dealt with the general public is I believe that violent dreams, in which you harm other people, is a release meachanism for having to constantly keep your cool in your working life when you can't 'fight' back. I suspect the explosions also represent controlling your temper and release of frustration, this may be your way of being calm in your working life.
Your a teacher so I guess you may be confirmation of my theory LOL!
Write down things that have stressed you during the day before you go to bed ( I always then burn the paper) and you'll probably sleep like a baby.
Sweet Dreams!

I think that the killings and bombings that occur in your dreams are influenced by all the news at the moment and your anxiety about it. As a teacher your need to protect and to educate without prejudice must have effects. Perhaps your dreams cause you to examine events from all perspectives. I did a bit of work with dream association long ago and was told that how you feel about the dream is more important than the content. I was also taught to try to remember my dream, run through it again in my mind and create a new ending that was happy. Worked for me!
