Giving up full time work....!! right to be freaked out?
3 Answers
As you will see in my previous posts have had a traumatic time the last week. I have decided to give up working full time and only do half days so I can look after my boyfriend for a couple of months.
Money is not an issue, he will be receiving a large sum from insurers and is also being paid full pay (work accident) so I have no real financial gain from me working! but I have been working all my life and it has always been very important to have independance!
I am yet to have children as always worry about change!! i.e giving up work. So i have not yet had a reason to do so.... but I have to give all my time to my bloke to help him recover and this could take months!! (years)
I feel really scared!! stupid huh? does anyone understand this or had to do similar?? i suppose mums have had to do this for other reasons.. why am i so scared of change? Maybe its relying financially on my partner... I really dont know!! by the way he is 100% supportive of me and money means nothing to him.. he can afford to have me not working at all.. so why is going part time feel like a huge thing! One day I do want kids and I suppose that this would have happened anyway.. and maybe this will make me more mentally prepared to let go of my independance in future..
Oh and just so you know.. I love my man.. he is my world and I am going to give him my time and love through this difficult time no matter what.... I just wondered if i am alone with my fears.

Orange, You will be fine, I packed up work for a while 6 years ago when my wife had Cancer, you will gradually get back into work, but in the meantime you will be so pre-occupied with doing things the days will fly by,you will not be bored, you still have own life as well, and you must make time for yourself, it won't all be plain sailing, cos he is going to get angry, frustrated, depressed, so are you, you will argue, you will laugh, you will cry, but most important, you will be together, good luck Orange, Ray
