cornwall town/village names begin with

hello folks Darth is back from holidaying in sunny Cornwall (cor blimey weren't it 'ot?) - first question back from holiday is why are there so many villages around Bodmin area and Cornwall in general, that begin with Tre... ? and what does the Tre signify?

Tre in Cornish as in Welsh means town, have a look at a Welsh map to see... Tredegar, Tregaron etc

Well, I live in Cornwall and Moog has it right, it does have a word meaning but if my geography teacher was correct (who probably isn't but loves Cornwall) it means farm. well my school name begins with tre and the name... i forget what that means!
