My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for over two years now. I have very irregular cycles and I sometimes go for 3 months without having a period. As you can imagine it is impossible for me to tell when i am ovulating. I've tried taking a temperature chart and even bought those ovulation test strips which I must say aren't cheap. Recently we've decided to get help and went to the NHS. The doctors were friendly enough and now I've started taking pills. The first set was to induce a period and the other one which I've now started will help with the ovulation. Does anyone know of any support groups or specialist person I can speak to? I really want to move away from the NHS as I can't even speak to my doctor until my next appt which is 4 months away, but I can't afford expensive treatment. I live in Leicester and would appreciate if anyone can give me contact details or advice on the best way of getting pregnant given my irregular cycle. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Sincerely, Ally
Hi Ally,
Im not sure if this will help at all but IVillage have a range of messageboards and there are 2 that you may be interested in. The messageboards are for women to chat about what they are going through and offer advice and links for more information.
There is another website that might be able to help you www.babycentre.co.uk
I'm afraid i cant offer any advice about this myself. But I have a friend who was in a similar situation to you, they were trying for two years and then she was given pills to help ovulation but she fell pregnant just before she took them. There is hope. Good luck and i hope you find the information you need.
I had a similar problem. I was getting periods but not getting pregnant. I was given Chlomid twice but managed to get pregnant before taking it. Unfortunately it is a timely process as appointments are usually 6 months apart each time and you can want to get to the stage of giving up. Bear with it for a while and if nothing happens ask to see someone again to discuss best options. You dont say how old you are so you may have time on your side. I kept pushing for appointments all the time as I was 33 when I started my appointments and managed to get pregnant at 35 which was the age I gave myself before I gave up. Good luck.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and advice. I really appreciate it. I've just taken the last of my Chlomide tablet and hopefully they will work. spanner7853 - I am 29 years old by the way. Thanks again everybody.
