However it really depends on what your cousin and both your families think. If you both fell madly in love, would you have your families blessing and be allowed to marry? If not be carefull as you could end up with a broken heart and then lots of very difficult family get togethers for LIFE.
Of course you could try for children and you have a good chance of having healthy children. However as cousins you do have a higher chance of having children with abnormalities. However that is not the end of the world. My daughter has Downs Syndrome and is fantastic and gorgeous.

to Zack I just want to say what does your cousin think of all this? Has she told you how she feels? I know you feel you love her but without meaning to be patronising at the tender age of 16 you are more than likely feeling a very strong completely normal lust for her. I think you need to talk to her, find out what she feels and you and her know your family and discuss what their reaction is likely to be it may not be great but at the end of the day you are not breaking the law so if you want to be together I just think you should go for it and use contraception!!! You will more than likely find that you won't end up getting married and spending the rest of your life together but that is what life is about, taking risks and experiences and learning from them, good luck

And what statistics did you get that from? If there is a genetic disorder on a chromosone then your children have a much higher chance of getting the illness than people from different gene pools.
If I were you, which I am not, I would go and meet some other girls, you are 16 and the chances of you loving her forever are slim. If she is your cousin then there isn't much chance of avoiding her forever. Find someone else and put it down to a silly crush.

Tigwig is right - It's not against the law to marry a cousin or have a relationship, but at your age, "love" is a very ambiguous word. Hormones are running riot just now, and I would suggest you go out and meet plenty of other prospective partners before deciding that your cousin is the one for you.
