I am furious at Natwest. How can they get away with this? I went over my overdraft agreed limit on the 30th of september and they charged me 28 on the 31st of october as a "maintenance fee" for it .Now I find that they are charging me another 28 because I was over the limit on october 1st too and it counts as a new month, yet my monthly statement counts the period from October 5th as the new month and I wasnt over my limit on ocotber 5th!
Can they get away with this? Is there somewhere that I can write to see if I can get them to remove the 2nd charge?

Ethel I posted it twice to increase exposure as some people dont go on the other sections. Also I think that my question is relevant to both categories.
without looking at the terms and conditions of your account no one can say - i expect you will find it says something like "we will charge you x amunt for every calendar month you are over your overdraft limit"
Unless you habitually abuse the account facilites I used to find that a polite letter of complaint resulted in a refund and a slapped wrist.
my husband once went mistakenly overdrawn wuth HSBC and they charged him around 30 even though it was only for a few days. I rung up on his behalf and was very assertive on the phone and explained it was a genuine mistake etc and had never happened before and they refunded it. I also got refunded for going over the limit on a halifax credit card as well after writing a letter so I would definitely try it unless you do it all the time
