Cats : please read
9 Answers
First of all I would just like to say thankyou for all the support i had over loosing Izzy, On monday i had to have another one of my cats put to sleep he was 17 and had a great happy life, We are unsure of what was wrong with him weather it was old age or fip (Feline infectious Peritinitis) we think that was what my baby Izzy died from. Fip is a mutated virus from the Corona virus that many cats come in contact with through out there life, the virus either does 3 things depending on the cats immune system the cat can either shed the virus from there body which in most cases it normally does, or they carry the virus for life, or cats with low immune systems will allow the virus to mutate into fip the virus it self is mainly transfered from cat to cat through feaces, it may also be contracted through saliva but from what i have read they can not prove this i myself kept an indoor litter tray for them so they did not have to go out in awful weather it was always very clean and disinfected. I would like to say that if you have more than 3 cats and they go out side and use a litter tray inside please take in mind that when they use the litter they may keep contaminating themselves with this virus, there is no cure or vaccine, we did not know how izzy got this as she was mainly an indoor cat, please read up on FIP i have other cats here that i am so so worried about (frantic actually)... but they all seem fit and healthy at the moment.
