Has anyone ever split up with someone.......but then got back togther after a significant amount of time? like 1 year plus

need a tiny glimmer of hope here

I have but are you asking us if you it is possible to go back out with that someone.
If so, it is best to talk to her about what may of went wrong before you two split up. If an answer is given, work upon improvement.
Then talk to your person about going out again and, hopefully, you two should be on track again.
It's just communication which can bring back a conversation.

My first love insists he wants me back and we met and split up in 1984. For me it's never going to happen, because I'm married. If I was single, I still don't think I would give him another chance. He shattered my heart at the time.

I know of a few people who have got back after a year or so. One couple married and have three sons, and another lasted a further five years. The others didn't work.
