retro games
Attention everyone!! I'm sure this has been asked before but, is there anyone out there who likes playing RETRO GAMES? Yes, there is - me! Although,I must admit I do like the new games on offer these days. For example, GOD OF WAR 1 and 2 which I have in my huge collection of PS2 games.I also have a big range of PS1 games as well.I have been playing video and arcade games for many many years now.I even managed to complete Prince of Persia:The Two Thrones before my nephew did, which was quite an achievement, as he's a very good game player.Anyway, what I would like to do now,is to find out what everyone's favourite Top 12 RETRO-ARCADE games are.It would be quite interesting to see what they are.As I have so many favourites,it's a bit tricky to name just 12.Anyway,here are my Top 12 Retro favourite games,in no particular order of preference:- 1-Shadow Warriors 2-Tron (Great sound effects on this!) 3-Moon Cresta (addictive, but gets really difficult after completing it first time round) 4-Astro Blaster 5-Scramble 6-Haunted Castle ( the game which inspired the Castlevania series.I never managed to complete this hard game. But,I did witness my friend completing it) 7-Toki (I loved this monkey spitting game) 8-Gorf 9-Turbo 10-Shinobi 11-Space Firebirds (good sound effects on this game) 12-Mr Do's Castle It would be brilliant if someone could put all these games on two compilation discs for the PS2 which I own. I would be in my glory! So,what are your top 12 then?

I used up a lot of 10p pieces playing this game.It was good when you blew up the mothership in the end.Heh,heh!
Great fun! The awkward bit was destroying those eggs before they hatched into those pesky birds which moved from side to side very fast.
Ghosts and Goblins, another classic.I got this on a compilation game disc.Good game!
Star Wars,I remember playing this in an Amusement Arcade. The arcade machine was most impressive. You step inside it,and you're in another world.Wow,really cool!
Amidar was another one of my favourites.Pretty basic stuff, but was totally addictive.Just fill in the blanks while avoiding enemies. It was good though, when you filled in the four corners. You could then get your own back on them.
Great fun!Thanks,Whickerman!

The official site www.mame.com is good to d/load the actual emulator itself. I don't think they offer the ROMS due to licensing issues (I'm not sure how legal they are) The ROMS are readily available.
They're pretty safe I can email you ROMS if you need as they are fairly small in file size. Put it this way; I have 10 out of the 12 games you listed :-)

Sorry for taking a while to get back to you all,but I've been quite busy doing other work.
Anyway, that seems to be a good idea Booldawg about MAME.Before I have a look at MAME.com I just hope it's not too difficult to get at these old retro games.Never heard of RAINE.I might have a look at that as well.
It's most likely that there is a fee involved in downloading these games.
Thanks Booldawg,I'll let you know about your offer.Watch this space!!

Hi Whickerman. No doubt there are various file sharing/ download sites that offer it. TBH I'm not keen on getting exe files from those sources.
I can mail you all the files/folders you need to get it up and running, along with a few games just to get you started. Round about the 12mb mark , so would need to split between 3-4 mails to get it through (depending on mail limits etc)
Its just a case a creating a folder and dumping all the files/folders in to that. Its fairly easy to get up and running
My mail address is [email protected]
