Dating in your 40's

Are there new rules when youre older for dating? Whats acceptable on 1st date?

In all the best movies man meets woman and they spend the night together.
If youre a 40-odd woman do you look a bit daft jumping into bed on a 1st or 2nd date? and does that spoil it for becoming a meaningful relationship?

I think you should do what you did when you were twenty-odd - go with your instincts.

There is no rule bok for dating no matter what age you are, so just go along with what feels comfortable for you - which will be a sight easier than it was because you have a degree of life experience to draw on now, which means you won;t be naiive about undying love and all that on your first date.

Relax, stay sober, have money for cab fare home, let someone know where you are if you do decide to 'stay out', and just enjoy yourself.

I have never had sex on my first date. I'm in my thirties, but it doesn't make any difference how old you are 40's or 50's or whatever. It's about the 'right feeling'.
If it feels right ,then do it.

A date shouldn't mean sex - that's a bit tawdry at any age.

But if you just want casual sex, do it.

If you want a relationship, at least get to know him first.

as a 40 something singleton, i would say that a lot of dates have an expectation that you will sleep with them on the first date, but if you dont want to dont and if you do do !!!

and generally if you do, it does spoil it for becoming a meaningful relationship i think !!

I would never sleep with a guy on a first date.

Or second.

Probably not even third.

But if we're still seeing each other after that, then I'd shag him like he'd never been shagged in his entire life.

It would be worth his wait ... but don't do it on the first date.

I've only ever slept with one man on my first date. I was 36 and we have now been married 2yrs.

Gotta say by the time you get to 40 theres not a lot of necessity for the song and dance routine of your youth.you see it , you want it , you have it .

such is life , and its too short for pussyfooting around if youre both agreeable thendo as the situation dictates.
