possible affair or no affair

what do you think?
my husband calls the doctors office to ask for a referral.
the secretary recognized who it was right away and tells him that she will do the referral if he brings her a frape (greek specialty coffee). My husband had her on speakerphone since he was driving, and everyone in the car heard her and everyone was appauld except my husband. She was all giggles with my husband. Writing referrals is part of her job. Why did the patient have to buy her anything? My husband accepted to buy it for her with smilies and he offered to buy her whatever else she needed to eat with it. I was beside myself. I did not know what to think. I could not believe this was happening in front of me. The secretary is not family nor a long standing friend that just happens to be workiing at the doctors office we go to. We only know her through a patient doctor relationship. What right / balls does she have to ask and why would my husband accept and offer to buy her anything else?
My husband claims their is nothing going on - he was just being nice. Despite the fact that I told him he should not do it and I was opposed it, he bought it for her anyway and personnally delivered it. This all happened while I was waiting in the car. Are they potentially having a relationship?

The rest just sounds like banter. A doctor shouldn't be that chummy with a patient perhaps, but I can't see any reason why a secretary shouldn't. I can see why it all startled you but I'd say no, no affair.
Check his wallet, pockets, constantly check your bank account and get an explanation for anything you dont know about. Before you can say abracadabra you will have made him think you are a paranoid sorry excuse for a wife and will be having affairs left right and center just to get away from your constant greif.
Hope this helps

I think you are making too much of this. It is just friendly banter, and as other people besides yourself heard all this, and the fact that he is not exactly hiding anything from you, as you were there when he bought and took the coffee to her, he is not hiding anything is he?
Take it all in good fun, which seems the best thing to do in this instance, otherwise you could end up sounded like a bitter jealous woman.
then it could be the case of flump 2's answer.
Do you really want that?
:-)

mahi, it just sounds like a bit of fun, but I appreciate it wasn't nice for you to witness. I have a laugh with lots of men I deal with during my working day. you should hear some of the things that are said... one even offered to take me on holiday last week! (I did agree, but that's part of the entertainment.)
it's just a way of relieving work boredom/stress, and I'll bet she says that to all the boys! I have a stressful job and I'm delighted to hear a happy voice on the phone. don't think too much of it. I'm sure you've punished him enough by now :o)

I don't think this woman should work in a doctors office, her behaviour is totally unprofessional. Perhaps this woman put your husband in a postion that he did not know how to get out of. Some men panic when confronted by a predatory female. It doesn't mean that he would do anything.
I would report her.
