No - a gift is given, not loaned.

You should return the engagement ring - whilst you are not legally obliged to do so, it is the 'done thing' to return it.

perhaps you and your ex may want to share presents
regarding the ring it is an individual choice i know some people who have not returned the ring. It was a personal item between you and your ex unless it was a family eirlom of his he is unlikely to want to use it again,no offence, as it has memorys.

Th gifts are yours to keep. But why would you wish to keep the ring? As Ethel says, traditionally it is given back, but there is no legal requirement.

But even if your relationship didn't work out (which is a shame), isn't it nice to keep the ring as a momento of what nearly was ?

This is just my opinion....for the gifts, keep them, no doubt about that. For the ring...well. If the relationship ended amicably, and the break up was mutual, then simply ask him if he wants it back, or if you should keep it. If you broke up with him because he cheated, or was a generally awful guy, KEEP it! If you cheated, or were just tired of him.....give it back. He can always sell it on.
