Bridesmaids!
3 Answers
Sorry if this is the wrong section to post, but wasnt sure where else this would fit it! But it is about relationships with some of my close friends and best friends...
I am getting married in April and have 2 bridesmaids, both of similar age to myself (30ish!)
When I got engaged a year ago, I have kept them both involved with wedding plans, and they have come to dres fittings etc / given advise on colours/ shoes etc but when we speak about hen night, noone has really taken control so i have ened up researching ideas and making enquiries myself and emailing all the girls to find out who can come etc and basically managing it myself. A couple of times they have said 'if you need help let me know' but both of them have kids so feel a bit like im being cheeky to hand them the task when they are clearly busy than me!
Feel a bit like nobody cares, and after sending out the email few days ago, noone has even bothered to reply. I spent ages on it too. Did anyone else have this problem?
The other thing i worry about is I have a quite a few close friends but all from different parts of my life. Some from my school days, some from work, some ex work but 2 of my cloest friends are from different groups so worry about the dynamics of the actual hen night and if some people dont know others - will everyone still have a good time? But, based on the fact noone has replied yet, thinking i might not even be having a hen night now!! :( :(

If people still don't reply, assume they're not coming and don't include them in plans. As to the dynamics, mostly people will get along fine if you just leave them to it, it'll be fine once the alcopops start flowing.
Alternatively do what I'd do if I ever took the inclination to get married and run away to a nice beach somewhere hot with just the person you're planning on marrying... Much less hassle and you can have a party when you come back ;0)

I had the same problem. I sent the final email saying what I was booking and the deadline for payment and just went from there. We were a small group but they did all get on fine and I had a laugh. But it wasn't that magic hen night you think of before hand. Unfortunately you can't make someone arrange something for you so just make the best of it and ensure you enjoy it. The thing to remember is, your wedding is your whole life to you, but to everyone else it is just a day, which isn't even for a few months. Many of them have been there done that, and some of them will have children/things going on in their own lives which mean they can't focus on you all the time. I wish I'd realised that sooner and I may not have kept disappointing myself!
