Spanish Air Strike
rosiew
Hi all
We was due to fly to Gran Canaria at 9.30am but with the spanish air strike we was told to go home and come back tomorrow, we even got on the plane and sat on it for almost two hours, i am with direct travel insurance and i have looked in their terms and conditions and it states that they will pay out if there is a delay of over 12hrs. We will have been delayed for over 29hrs (although we were told to go home or stay in an hotel until 2pm on sunday). Would direct line say that this is not a delay?. They do not open until 10am to find out and because we are only going for a week we will lose nearly 2 days of our holiday if we decide to go. On the other hand if we cannot claim, we will lose £650 plus £100 for my 2 cats in the cattery. Please help

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.If you travel tomorrow (after a 29 hour delay), Direct Line will pay you £30 per person under Section J (Part One) of their policy, which states that the delay is calculated "from the time shown in your travel itinerary".
You also have the option, under Section F (5), to abandon your travel plans. Direct Line should then pay for "for your personal accommodation and transport charges that you cannot get back from any other source" (less an excess of £40 per person). However there seems to be no cover for such things as cattery fees.
