If a persons usual eating habbits consist of things like,bread thick with butter,(several times during the day) crisps, chips, salads laden with mayo or the like, meat but not a great lot of veg, well you get the picture. Do you think its possible to loose weight by not necessarily following a diet plan,but eating three proper meals a day,no snacking and cutting right down on alcohol,or do you think slimming clubs are best? Would appreciate your thoughts.

Buy yourself a good selection of fruit. Not just a few apples and oranges, but some blueberries, a pineapple, some pears, mango chunks, bunch of grapes and anything else you like, but loads of it. That way you always have something else to eat when you fancy a snack or a dessert. While you're there, by some Ryvita and rice cakes to replace the bread. Now you'll...

A lot of people (including me) think they are hungrey when in fact they are thirsty - I know I don't drink enough fluids during the day.
My sister is very large and I went round hers for dinner one night. She was dishing up what I thought was mine and told her to stop because there was too much on the plate. Her reply!! This is H's, her 7 year daughters!!!

And yes, the daughter is also very large now.
I agree with everything Naomi said. Actually that's my eating habits.
As a 17 stone ex Royal Marine, now in my early 60's, I've only ever eaten
/// three proper meals a day ///
When on 'heavy duty' training, using lots of energy, I'm still very active now and it's a bacon/egg Sarnie for breakfast around 0800hrs, and a cooked meal between 1900 & 2000 hrs, with a coffee or three in between.
What on earth do you do to need the level of consumption you're talking about?
I absolutely hate going to people's houses for dinner when they serve the whole meal to me. My appetite diminishes completely at the sight of a heavily laden plate - and there's nothing worse than being served a huge helping of something I don't like. When I 'do' dinner, I put dishes on the table so people can take as little or as much as they want - even if we have no guests.
I'm the same Naomi. A plate full is overwhelming.
I eat one meal a day, that is if I'm hungry. Otherwise my diet consists of lots of fresh fruits and raw vegetables, and water.

I still wear some of my clothes I wore when I was 16. lol
Society, do you have to cook for anyone else?
I always have family members visiting, I cook two or three times per week, and enjoy cooking fancy dishes. Or my guests cook what they want.

I've been a vegetarian my entire life so all my family know my eating habits. They are used to it.
