Onwards and Downwards Continues in February 2014

Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Welcome to the month of love everyone, February is here. So how do you combat all the chocolates and cakes due around the 14th? Could you gently suggest to your sweetheart a low sugar, non fat alternative?

Are there any and what do they taste like? I like the look of these:

And these heart shaped tomatoes with a healthy dip:

Please do give us your ideas about a healthy Valentine's Treat.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Here is last months thread

Maydup and xstitcher we learn something new everyday .got to check everything .
Ah: but will other brands froth as well ;-)

I, only occassionally, check the details. As long as I know the Calories and saturated fat figures I can do my usual daily calculations.
Like you OG i have looked at calories and sat fat mostly, but as I seem to be a bit stuck at the moment, I'm trying to be mindful of sugar too now. Its everywhere!
Now I am in a maze. I was talking about my new found milk info to an English lady who was a hospital dietician. She could tell me that the best milk is ecological homaginized milk so now we are up in the pricey area if it is found here and as OG so aptly asked.....does it froth? I did also find out that Stevia is the best sweetner to use as many of the others have nasty things in them.

Anyhow you can see I think of you even when I am having fun!
I used stevia some time ago until someone on the Net said they used to and found out it was "poison" so no longer touched it; which put me off so it stayed on the shelf for years. Amazed now it seems to be more mainstream rather than quirky. I guess the person who told me must have muddled it up with something else.
Eating asparagus is a tad sexy ;)

I forgot to weigh Wednesday, so I will next week. In fact, I have my 10 session appraisal at the gym on Tuesday.
I "feel" tighter, and I'm sure my posture is improved.
Next week eh?
Now managing 2 slices of a small brown loaf toasted, a nice cuppa helps it down.
OG The dietitian did tell me about one sweetener that is full of nasty things but the name went in one ear and out the other because I do use Stevia.

Good for you ferlew, 2 slices of toast is a big jump from nothing. Hope your weigh in goes well.
Thanks x stitcher.
Was it Aspartame? That is addictive.
It's only a small brown loaf, but a start eh?
Yes I think it was aspartame ferlew. I must admit that once she got going I started to get confused....too much info all at once...we began with milk and ended up with flu jabs....I think. By that time my eyes were completely glazed over.
Whoohooo another 1lb down and I've finally made it to the half stone mark that I was aiming for over the winter. I still have a way to go and would like another half stone before Easter at least, but it represents 3.5 stones in all for me over the last couple of years and a very happy wednesday here for me.

Well done Maydup keep up the good work. I have not moved an ounce either way but this is how it is with me but once I get back to more salads I will be on the down but not easy in this weather but have kept off the cakes and sweets which helps of course.
Well done Wendilla, its tough enough to keep on an even keel in the winter, but keeping off the sweet stuff is a real bonus.
Oh dear, I have completely forgotten this morning so will weigh in tomorrow. All the best to the rest of you lovely people.
Yay ! No one gained yet this week then.
Down 1 lb.
We'll done to you all.
Lost another 2.8 lbs since I last reported.
Going to Gymophobics 3 times weekly, and have cut down dramatically on carbs.
Lost a total of 5 inches too, they measure you at various points and compare every 10 sessions.
I have only done 8 sessions, and I was a tad down, so they did an assessment to show that weight isn.t everything. I must admit my posture is much improved, and I stand taller.

Well done to everyone else who has lost, or not gained.
Well done OG you seem to be on the right track this last 2 weeks .
Ferlew well done again . It proves that if you eat breakfast you will los lose along with the rest of your meals .Keep up the good work.
Well done everyone!!! There's no gains so far this week. I have gone down to my goal weight again, thanks to my tummy upset:-( . I'll will still be looking in on here to maintain it, as last time I reached my goal weight I relaxed too much and went back up again.
