what would you recommend(not offal)started on iron tabs again,yesterday but when I go off them for about a year I amanaemic again?

So why go off them?

just leave out the ones you don't like, Looks like a (medically approved)diet of dark chocolate coming over the horizon.
So that's sorted then.
DO eat:
dark-green leafy vegetables, such as watercress and curly kale
iron-fortified cereals
wholegrains, such as brown rice
beans
nuts
meat
apricots
prunes
raisins

DON'T drink, or limit consumption of (because they can inhibit the absorption of iron):
Milk, tea & coffee.
(Also avoid wholegrain cereals for the same reson)

Don't forget to up your Vitamin C intake also as this helps the iron absorb into the body..

I would presume that you have had a blood test and that it has been diagnosed as iron deficiency anaemia?

Why do you become anaemic again after coming off the tablets? are you losing blood? I would ask your GP to confirm all my above queries.

A bottle of Guinness a day would give you plenty of iron.
