On Doctors advice, I am on a 0 carb diet, though the better term is minimum carbs as there is sugar in most vegetables, the idea being to achieve ketogenesis of the fat back into glucose and effect weight loss.
Result nearly 7 pounds off last week, estimated 3 to 4 weeks of this and then he will suggest bringing the carbs up by 5g intake a day and see what the loss is - and repeat until the loss stops. By the way, I have no gall bladder so that is one negative risk factor out.
Side effects week one, a lot of fatigue in the evenings but sleeping better...a bit of a space cadet days two though four.
One other thing, on alcohol, permitted in moderation - things like dry white wine and Rioja where there is little sugar, so obviously no beer or white wines. Slow release (glycaemic) sugar like porridge and oats is fine by the way, the porridge good for the fibre as well, though my veg and fruit consumption is seriously up in compensation of the carb loss, probably in the order of 9 to 10 servings a day.
