Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

I Hope everyone has been enjoying the small amount of warmer weather we had in the last couple of weeks, I think we are now into the April showers though!

In May good things to eat include new potatoes, asparagus and gooseberries, yum.

Here are a couple of healthy recipe ideas:

Lamb is also good to eat now.

and here is some great info on a somewhat forgotten native friut:

Enjoy!

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

^^^^^ nothing's safe is it?!!

Morning all. I haven't managed to lose anything for a couple of weeks now and am just ticking along feeling sorry about it again. I will take another serious look at my menus and make a determined effort to identify the offending items. I eat salads and berries along with a vegetarian diet, no bread, no pies, etc but something is stopping me lose weight again.

Well done all you losers, onwards and downwards.
sigh

I was doing well and dropping until Saturday. I have no idea what has happened since to explain it but another large rise today ensures the scales are claiming I went up !!!!!!!!! 1.6 lbs over the week. I simply can not believe it.
I've just goggled through asparagus info. And what I've got out out of it is what we preach...eat it in moderation UNLESS you are prone to gout and then it might be a good idea to stay away from it.
Down 2.4 lbs allegedly.
I did wonder about last week's rise. Unsure any set of scales are that accurate.
After a weekend of increased carbs and less exercise, I was amazed to discover this morning that I'm down 200 grams to 67.3. Best of all, I can now comfortably fit into 34" waist trousers! That's 10" less than 15 months ago. Onward downwards to 66K.
Lovely news Jomlett, have an amazing result.

Me? No change AGAIN. Change the record Maydup!
Good morning all and well done OG and Jomlett .I am still on my stay the same as you Maydup. Maybe now the weather is changing I can sort my meals out again . I know its the bread as I like my toast when I have boiled egg . But I can get over that when I get The French toast when I go Tesco as cant get it in asda .
Wow you really are amazing Jomlett. Don't fret Maydup. I doubt that you are stuffing yourself with all sorts of no no's so your glory will come!

Next week I'm going into a rehab hotel courtesy of the Danish health service. I shall leave our house in a wheel chair and hope to return using a walker. I'll be
Home for the weekends. They have WIFI there so I'll be keeping a sharp eye on you all! Just think of Howe. much more difficult it would be if I hadn't shed those 20+ kilos! For me now it's Onwards and Upwards.
We'll be thinking of you next week xstitcher and look forward to a progress report! Onwards and Upright for you. Take care.
I like that motto Maydup. Thank you. At the moment my main training is hilarious. I'm strapped into a corset like thing attached to an overhead thing that slides along a track on the ceiling(think of an adult sized baby's
Jolly Jumper! Then I'm using a tall sized walker to walk about in. The upright stance is pure heaven but funny at the same time to me.
Gosh ... the thread is deserted ... Anyone there ???

Anyway: after an inexplicable rise that could not reasonably be accounted for and very nearly made me just give up, an equally inexplicable fall over the last 24 hours has made for a reasonable result. Down 0.6 lbs on the week.

Once upon a time I though the way this weight loss thing went was easy to understand. Now I think it uses a random totally non-understandable system somehow.
Good morning OG . Well done for your loss I have stayed the same . Need a kick start .I am being careful but something has to change .
Good for you OG down is down don't forget that. Now Wendilla I think that need a rethink. It was your idea a few years ago about menu planning. That really worked for me. I bought a special little book in a pound shop and on Monday mornings that was my first job...detailed menus for the first few days of the week planned to go hand in hand with my shopping list. On Thursday I did it for the rest of the week. Have you been doing this lately W? I found it made dinners much easier to stick to the straight and narrow. I only did dinners as breakfast and lunch tend to beretta much the same every day.
I have had a relapse and am back in hospital but after my two last treatment transfusions today I shall go directly to my rehab ab centre and be there for the next 5 weeks.
I was weighed here on a weighing chair and have lost 10 kilos since I became ill making my total weight loss 26 kilos. I would prefer not to loose any more.
Question Author
Hi all,

Sorry have not been around much recently. New thread on Monday maybe a little later in the day than normal, I have extended the sticky so it should still be up.

Any ideas for a theme?

After 15 months on the low carb diet, I've reached my original target of 66K and looking forward to a summer free of fat!

http://authoritynutrition.com/low-carb-diet-meal-plan-and-menu/

I needed to lose weight, after being told to do so by my doctor. I was 5'10" and 95k, something had to be done...Finding the low carb diet and finding acceptable foods that I can enjoy was a positive start. I accually looked forward to making evening meals that didn't involve junk foods.

With some borderline foods now available for me to enjoy, I will not return to obesity, though.

Finding a diet that suits one person, might not be acceptable to another. Search and enjoy, but don't give up.
Well done Jomlett and well said . Yes xstitcher that was my bible writing everything down and planning menus. It just shows what happens when you think you are on the straight path when you don't plan so now its back to planning . Watch this space .
