Because of that we were excused jury duty for 10 years. I was a bit upset by that as I was more than willing to do another stint. However the jury bailiff explained that it didn't prevent me accepting another invitation but simply gave me a get out if I didn't want to do it.
Alas I haven't been called since.
OG, It might be worth reading the closing paragraphs - her personal views.
When the case first came to court I saw, and maybe you did, the council house these people (err, animals) lived in, it was an aerial shot of a really nice house with a front and back garden, the sort of place many (including some of my family) would long for the opportunity to live in, but can't get.
^^ And pouring boiling water on her ankles whilst she's restrained and hooded. Evil, monstrous scum.
Let's hope that before too long the tide of opinion among even the most stout left-wing apologists turns against this vile ideology that allows for beating and abusing women and little girls senseless because they're "worthless" and that no more beautiful children like Sara are left in the care of sadistic monsters like Urfan Sharif.
“Let's hope that before too long the tide of opinion among even the most stout left-wing apologists turns against this vile ideology….”
The problem is that the “ideology” itself (i.e. Islam) does not permit such violence. If you read about the topic it is stated, in more than one place, that such behaviour has no place in Islam. It also states (among other things) that women should not tolerate forced marriages to people they do not particularly like or maybe do not even know. In short, what’s written down (the “ideology”) and what Muslims think and do are two entirely different things.
There is no doubt that there is widespread misogyny among Muslim men. You can see it in practice every day. I have used some shops where Muslim men work and the difference in treatment they offer to their male and female customers is astonishing.
It isn’t written down anywhere and defenders of Islam will tell you any such occurrences are atypical. But they are not. The religion is infected with men who believe that women are their property, they are there to be controlled and to obey – and to be chastised if they do not. All the behaviour that we see, both serious and not so much so, stems from that belief.
I was listening to Nick Ferrari this morning and he did a slot on Sharia “Courts”. Apparently there are now almost 100 of them operating across the UK. The Islamic authorities (and the UK government) prefers to call them “councils”. This is done so as not to give non-Muslims the impression that they are considered as courts of law and there is no intention to subvert UK justice.
But nothing could be further from the truth. Nick had a couple of Muslim callers – both women – who left listeners in no doubt that they believed they were bound by Sharia Law and that transgressions and disputes could only be settled in Sharia “Courts”. They were asked (for example) whether they considered it reasonable that men can have four “wives” whilst women could not have four “husbands”. One woman pointed out that it was no different to men having a wife and a mistress or two – it simply formalised that arrangement.
The details of this issue are too lengthy to debate properly here, but Islamic practices (either formal or informal) have established a firm foothold in the UK and Muslim women and girls are being subjected to treatment which is clearly at odds with UK law and values. And the reason for this is not because such discrimination is prescribed anywhere but becauseIslamt is dominated by migoynist men.
The tragic and brutal death of Sara Sharif is a direct consequence of these beliefs and it is compounded because various UK authorities are reluctant to act properly for fear of being branded “Islamophobic.” Well I would sooner them run the risk of that (and deal with it appropriately) than see the mistreatment of Muslim women and girls continue as it clearly is at present.
