Green Tea

I bought some organic green tea bags from M&S today. I have had green tea before, and really enjoyed it, but this lot, when brewed, looks like a urinary sample and smells and tastes like mackerel. Is there any reason for this? Or has anyone else had this brand that can back me up?

Not had that brand but yes it can vary. However don't get confused between green tea and jasmine tea. Many people have jasmine tea and think it's green tea, same sort of thing but jasmine is nicer (in my opinion)

This is definitely Green Tea, and I drank Green tea before. I have made 4 other people in my office smell it and they have all said fish/ mackerel.
My wife drinks green tea (Clipper brand) all the time and I've always thought that the smelt as you describe the M and S one. But she loves it.

Personally, can't stand green tea on it's own. However the London Fruit & Herb Co (Holland & Barrett amongst other shops) do a Green Tea & Orange and a Green Tea & Blackcurrant. Really nice. Ed

Earl Grey tea always smells like fish to me! I haven't noticed it with green tea.
I've bought this brand too and others and don't really taste the difference, though I do usually put something else in it, like cardamom, or lemon. Perhaps you let it brew for too long? It tends to vary from brand to brand, or maybe you just got a dodgy batch?
