Orlistat weight loss drug - advice please
20 Answers
My GP has recently suggested that I might consider going on Orlistat to help me lose weight. I have a lot to lose and although I know I can do it on my own (I've lost a stone and a half since October) I really feel like I could use some extra help as I do find it very difficult. However, the idea of taking any kind of drug worries me and I'm just not sure what to do for the best. I know about all the side effects of the drug and I reckon I could handle that but I'd really like to hear from anyone who has been on it, or who is on it. Would you recommend it?
Thank you in advance.

Yip, I've used it and I was very happy with it. I never had any of the associated problems and I lost a stone and a half which I've managed to keep off. I didn't have to make huge changes to my diet - I just opted for the lower fat versions of things (the threat of accidents is a much stronger incentive to cut out fat than will power). I didn't have to starve myself and I wasn't constantly craving things I couldn't have. I didn't notice much weight loss at first although I was losing it gradually according to the scales, but it became obvious quite suddenly and I certainly feel a lot better about myself for losing the weight. For all I cut down on my fat intake, I wouldn't have lost as much just by doing that alone, the tablets definitely made a difference and I would say, if your Dr has recommended them, give them a go but be patient :)

I went on Orilast on the advice of my doctor and I had terrible side effects with it. I could not be very far from the toilet as I had bad leaking problems and for me it did not seem to matter what I ate, I still got very bad leaking. I eventually had to come off it as I just stopped eating anything through fear of the effect. I think that if you are managing to lose the weight by yourself then you should stick to that. I would not recommend Orilast to anyone.
