To cut a very long story short, I have had dealings with Dyno Rod over a drain problem at one of the properties that I manage as a lettings agent.
The problem has been going on since June and they have racked up £2k of bills and the problem has not been recified.
They have been utterly incompetent and have not managed to diagnose what has turned out to be quite a simple problem.
I ended up telling them not to go back as I had an utter lack of trust and faith in them.
I called out a local company, who quickly identified the problem and rectified it within 2 days at a charge of less than £500.
So now my question is where do I stand legally with Dyno Rod? They have only been paid for their initial CCTV scan and now want paying for the rest of the work, which was both unnecessary and costly.
Can anyone help? (The Landlord lives in Hong Kong and says he is not paying a penny more as they have made such a hash of things.)

Have you sought legal advice about this? I would. You can often get a halfhour appointment with a solicitor, free of charge.

Hi Boxtops. No. I wasn't sure what to do/where to go about this, which is why I'm asking. So you think a solicitor? Well we deal with them all the time in the estate agency part of the business, so I'll ask. x
Before you seek Legal advice have you taken this up with the company ?

If you didnt know Dyno-Rod are now part of British Gas so in the first instance I would raise a complaint with them.
Tell Dynorod the owner won't pay. What can Dynorod do then?
The worst Dynorod can do if you (or the owner) refuse to pay is take you to the small claims court where due to the prolonged and incompetent work the judgement is likely to go your way. I doubt if Dynorod would want the bad publicity so I would take this line and brazen it out.

emeritus - Yes, I have taken it up with the company but the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, so I am getting no joy.
RS Donovan - I had thought of doing this actually, so thanks.
Send a well constructed and advised letter to Grant Dawson, General Counsel and Company Secretary of Centrica, the parent Co of British Gas - HO is in Windsor.
If you want to know it gets to him (well at least his sec) then Fedex it in......they have to sign for it.
make a strong, factual case and sue through the small claims court.
Do read the question before starting to type. The OP doesn't need to sue for anything in the Small Claims Court - it is DynaRod that is making the claim against the OP.
