I have been asked to design something different from an existing product, based on Dan Flavin and his art piece "Monument for V.Tatlin." It needs to be something that can be sold in the gift shop of the Tate Modern, this is for an assignment.
Any ideas I am truly stuck!
Thank you.

How about a light fitting using low power LED bulbs in the base of each tube? I don't know how hot LEDs get but, if they run cool enough to be safe with plastic tubing, instead of glass then that ought to make it affordable.

can you give us a link to a picture of this piece of artwork on which you have to base your work?

A better way of putting it is refining an existing idea rather then a new product. Thanks

here is a link Media URL: http://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/flavin-monument-for-v-tatlin-t01323
Description:
How about a pen/pencil holder for a desk? The cylindrical objects that have partitions for separate items? The artwork put that idea into my head, as it looks like a few pens standing on end. Or does your project have to something that's completely unknown?

Goodness.
The Penholder's a nice idea - or what about, for artists, a paintbrush holder with matching/toning palette?
Keyring fob? Base for a lamp?
Some sort of sweet, rock or that sugary stuff that sweet cigarettes used to be made out of.
You could have a whole range - 'Eat the Art.'

butterfly, have you any interim comments? Are we going in the right direction? Or not?

As this art installation illuminates, what about a glow stick like you get at concerts?
