I would have liked to have been a full-time music writer - I am a part-time one now, and when I retire I will do that full time.
Other than that i would have loved to have been a successful TV actor, or a psychologist.

I am not in the career that I want to be in due to financial implications of training and the time it would take. I am in a company that I applied to be in due to convenience and I am now in a positon that I enjoy so it's a bonus. Unfortunately I will have to leave the position I am in due to no progression available and the need for an increased salary so that I can buy a house.
Ideally I would like to be a Meterologist. My current role has nothing to do with weather.

I'm a cook...and its not what I always wanted. I fell into it by accident.But...I feed people who really need feeding, and its gratifying to do something for someone else.
I originally went to a fashion design/art college, and I wanted to do fashion illustration. But when I left, photography had taken over,so I did page makeup, and ad design instead. Not sure what I'd want to be/do if I could do it over again...but it'd have to be creative.

1 – Yes.
From a ridiculously early age I discovered I could make crosswords and from the age of 10-ish I knew it was what I’d eventually do full-time. It took about another 35 years to get there but it’s been my full-time job since 2007 and I couldn’t be happier.
There are personal reasons for this contentment. Despite my skills being highly developed by 13/14 there was never any family encouragement or even interest which, perhaps oddly, made me even more determined. And, in my mid-20s, a girlfriend asked me what my professional plans were. I was already setting occasional puzzles for the Birmingham Post but was otherwise jobless – when I told her I would become a professional cryptic setter she said “You’ll never do it”. Needless to say that was the end of the relationship but, several years later, proving that she was so wrong to doubt me was pretty satisfying!
Beyond the personal, what’s ideal about this job is that I’m famous but completely anonymous – no-one’s ever going to recognise me in the street, so I get to keep my own life.
2 - This one, and I plan to keep doing it until I drop.

1) No. I kind of fell in to it but I like and am very good at my job.
2) As a result of the job I now do, I think that I might like to be a detective or a solicitor specialising in the cases of child abuse. But I wouldn't have chosen to be that when I was younger - just have been influenced by what I do now.
