Employed and Self-Employed?
I am employed full-time in a regular office job, and am now looking to do some work free lance as a musician. Having met with an agency last week, the chap told me that I would need to register as self-employed, should I get any work through them.
Stupid question I'm sure, but can I stay working where I am now full-time AND do this additional work (if any) in the evenings? Do I need to inform my current employer of my intentions? Can I effectively be employed and self-employed at the same time?? I have checked the Inland Revenue website but it doesn't seem to be clear as to how you go about this - i.e. do I need to change my status and be entirely self-employed (and thus pay my own tax/NI annually instead of my employer paying it?)
Any help greatly appreciated!!

Best thing to do is to phone oyur local tax office and talk to them about it. It won't be a unique occurance to them.
