I was a member of the Scout Association but they terminated my membership two years ago(Did not know why my membership was terminated at the time as I did not feel that I deserved being discarded as such). I joined St John Ambulance as a youth worker and was working quite happily within the organisation. After a year SJA applied for a reference from the Scout Association and thats when my problems started. The letter came from a child protection officer and stated that I did not agree with the Scout organisations policys, which is incorrect, and that I had twice broken terms of my suspension. The later was an incorrect statement as I had not broken the terms of my suspension and with regard to the policies, I agreed with them all, some more wholeheartedly than others, and only expressed the views of the youths in my care, which was interpreted as disagreeing with the policys. Anyway SJA suspended me from working with youth because of this letter and I could understand why as many of the SJA policies are similar to scouts until further information could be found. I did inform SJA that I agreed with all the current SJA policies and I feel that it should have ended there however SJA child protection feel that I might have a child protection issue and are upholding the suspension. I feel that the letter has blackened my good name within SJA organisation and am unsure wether I have a deformation of charactor suite. I work with youth in a local youth clubs, with different nationality Scout Organisations and I also work for the local District and County Councils again as a youth worker. I have multiple clear fully enhanced CRB checks from many organisations including the Scout Organisation my last dated August 06. What are youre feelings?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I would suggest that you ask the Scouting organisation to clearly state (in writing), when and how you allegedly broke the terms of your suspension as you refute their claims. Also ask who made this allegation against you and which areas of their policy you are accused of not agreeing with.
If they refuse to provide the information, tell them that you will be pursuing legal against their organisation and you wish to pursue legal action against the individual (s) making the allegations for defaming your good character. Get tough with them. Also ask to see any information that the scouting organisation hold on you, under the freedom of information act. That will hopefully make them sit up and take notice.

You've not really clarified why your Scout Association membership was terminated (or if as you state, you don't know why, then you should follow it up)
This said, for a DEFAMATION of character lawsuit i suggest a preliminary chat with a solicitor (they will do this for free, before deciding whether you have a case, and whether they will represent you, as well as how much it may cost you). Mortartube has the right idea but it's usually best to leave it to the professionals, and the solicitor will rattle more cages than you will hope to
