Just a personal bit of advice - I really wouldn't go into that market - more and more people are downloading (both legally and iilegally) films.
My brother used to run a video & computer game rental & sales shop and was constantly complaining that he couldn't source the games as cheap as the major retailers. He was making about 2 per game (based on a 30 sales price) and just couldn't do the volume.
(This is a few years ago, but I can't say I think much would be different now)

I have to agree with Oneeyedvic. I used to work for a company that supplied DVD's/CD's/Games etc.
I was made redundant last year because my employer basically wasn't making any money. We bought goods from the wholesaler and added a markup before selling them on. Obviously people could get the stuff direct from the same wholesaler without our markup and so went direct to them. Amazon and Play were also cheaper, often with next day delivery.
Add to that the fact that more and more people are downloading films and buying illegal copies for less than a fiver, I doubt there is any money to be made in this business.

i have recently opened a small dvd rental shop in n.ireland the wholesalers i use are vhs who are very good. i read some of the responses you recieved advising you not to open dvd store i have to say that during the week it can be very quiet but weekends are busy, i am in the lucky position that i have been able to keep my full time job going so i am not depending on the shop but it is a lovely second income!
