Sales Rep Commission
1 Answers
Hi, I am a sales rep and am considering changing jobs, my contract states that a month's notice is required.
If I hand in my notice on the 1st September I would expect the company to tell me to leave straight away as a sales person who is on the way out is usually a liability.
If they do tell me to go immediatly should I still be paid for the month ahead?
Thanks

You are right when you say that many firms let a salesperson go on Garden Leave, rather than make them work their notice - for obvious reasons of not wanting the individual having further access to sensitive information and lack of true motivation.
If they do this, they are obliged to pay you for your contracted notice period, but you are not free to take up gainful employment elsewhere during this period. If you do, they have the right to reclaim or withhold salary from the date you take up the new employment.
Hope that helps, good luck
