i recently started a new job on the 7th of jan and have just been paid from that date. When working out my salary i was told that there are 23 working date in the month and this included the bank holiday (1st jan ) .Is this the correct way of working out somebodies frist months salary.
Every employer I've ever worked with would pay you for 19/23ths of your full month's salary. This is the number of working days you worked in the month divided by the total working days.
The bank holiday is irrelevant - it would have been paid to you had you been employed prior to the 1st, but you weren't.
