Welfare Facilities

Hi, I started a new job a few months ago, working as a secretary. Up until now I have been working in a room in my boss's house but am about to be moved into a separate building with no facities (toilet, running water etc). Boss has said I am welcome to use house facilities and he will get me a kettle for tea making which would mean I would have to go across to the house to fill the kettle with water. House is out in the country and perhaps a 3 or 4 minute walk from my new office. What I would like to know Is is this within legal guidelines for welfare facilities? How do I go about approaching a new employer that I'm not happy with this arrangement? The walk to the house will be unlit in the Winter!

mm tricky. I don't think a 4 minute walk to toliets is normally considered reasonable but I really don't think the employer will want to spend loads of money on building a bathroom/kitchen for you.
How important is it- would you be prepared to lose the job than go without the facilities.
It would be interesting to hear the thoughts of an expert such as buildersmate.
There must be people who work on farms etc who don't always have these facilities close by

This sounds like an odd arrangement - does your boss actually have planning permission to be running a place of work in his house?
