July 2010 l applied to my bank (Barclays) for a loan l was told that should l go for Barclay’s income insurance it would help. However, l was turned down on my credit rating. I then said that l did not wish for the insurance and was told that if l applied it would help my credit rating. Having decided that l did not want the policy l wrote to Ireland Barclays to cancel transaction and to my bank saying not to allow any direct debit to Barclay’s income insurance.
Having looked at my recent statement l see that Barclays have ignored my request to cancel but to make regular payment since last August 2010 (ten months in total)
On 31st May 2011, l went to my bank to see what was going on and was told that the manager was to busy but if l give them the details it would be passed on and she would contact me that day.
Now 1st June 2011 and no telephone call l have had to chase this up to see what they were doing. Nevertheless, l was most surprised to find out that the manager was not interested what so ever in fact she spoke to me as if this was my error and l would have to call the complaints department to find out what was happening. No apologies what so ever just very rude and abrupt…
Now come on guys I understand the question perfectly well, jkz has been having money deducted from a bank account to pay for a service that does not exist, & desires recompense. Please somebody help.Ron.
Are you talking about payment protection insurance? There are quite a few goings on regarding misselling of PPI at the moment. Have a look at moneysavingexpert. They talk about it on there. Maybe it applies to you and you should never have been sold it in the first place.
the question that l asked about Barclays Bank is for Barclays income Insurance which l cancelled in writing 4th Aug 2010 and have a copy of the letter which l delivered by hand to my branch and received a telephone call later from a member of staff saying why was l cancelling this policy so they did receive my cancellation letter
l have found that barclays have taken a payment from my account for the past 10 months for a income protection plan which was sold to me from barclays. l have no loanwith barclays only a bank account with them but this income protection insurance was cancelled immediately in write to barclays but they have ignored my request that no funds from my account are made and helped themselves each month and totally ignored my cancellation letter

Assuming they were taking payment by direct debit then the Direct Debit Mandate may offer you a way to recover your money. If money is taken in error from your account by DD then the bank is obliged to refund it.
