Need a rant about Paypal
10 Answers
I just need to vent my spleen about the ludicrous system of charges paypal operate, I know there is nothing I can do but it makes my blood boil. If I sell something on Ebay and I am paid by Paypal I am charged 3.4% + 20p or so I thought! Apparently not. This is only in the UK and some other countries. I have just sold an item and my buyer was in Japan so I have been charge 4.9% + 20p I phoned to query it and was told the fee varies on the country the buyer is from (they use the fancy term cross border transaction). As you do not know when someone buys your item where they are from until after they have bought your item, you cannot allow for this fluctuation in your price. The item I sold was £300 and ebay took £30 final value plaus listing fees 80p then paypal took £15.22 ludicrous they made more from the sale than I did! Grrrrrrrrr

I'm frustrated with the combined meanness of Royal Mail, Amazon, Ebay and Paypal....but at the end of it all, what else can we do if we want to sell online?

I know I do get quite frustrated, I have already done battle with Ebay earlier this week because a couple of people marked me low on postage charges so brought my postage to below standard so now I am not entitled to free listing on Ebay until it comes back within standard which will not be until November when the low marks drop off!! I said well I will just open a new account then so I can have free listing and was told well that is up to you!!
