If you take Euro travellers cheques then you shouldn't have to pay to change them, as you will no doubt have paid a fee in the bank where you bought them. However, this may not be the case if you change them in your hotel, but banks should change then commission free.
If you take sterling cheques, then chances are you will have to pay commission where ever you go.
